Josh from the Bitney Prep Class of 2023 spends his Wednesdays getting fungi at his internship at the MushBarn with his mentor, Dylan Lynch.
MushBarn aims to inspire healthy relationships between ourselves and nature’s networks to learn how to best support a resilient and fertile biosphere. They do this by growing mushrooms with regenerative practices, learning and sharing mycological theory, and building community. MushBarn cultivates their sun-grown mushrooms with a deep respect to the fungi and plant king & queendoms from deep in majestic Nevada County.
MushBarn offers its customers access to sun-grown fresh mushrooms, medicinal products, and educational programs. They steward a greenhouse and permaculture farm, and their in-house strains are cultivated in their barn’s lab facility with controlled conditions. Throughout the year, they cultivate some varieties outside in nature among the gardens.
At his internship, Josh is learning about all the aspects of running a small business, mushroom farming, and giving back to the community.
