Hospice of the Foothills Thrift Store

Mentor: Heather Adams

Student: Lola, Class of 2025

Lola from the Class of 2025 has a dynamic internship at Hospice of the Foothills Thrift Store in Nevada City working alongside her mentor, Heather Adams.

Hospice of the Foothills Thrift Store is an amazing place that upcycles all sorts of clothing, jewelry, and various knickknacks and whatnots. Sales at the Thrift Store supports Hospice of the Foothills, a non-profit 501(c)(3), serving approximately 500 patients and families in Western Nevada County and surrounding communities every year.

The philosophy of hospice is to recognize that quality of life, peace, and comfort at the end of life should be the focus when curing a patient’s disease is no longer possible.  HOF team members accomplish this through an interdisciplinary plan of care developed with the patient and their loved ones that enhances the patient’s quality of life.

At the Thrift store, Lola has been working behind the counter, in the processing bay where they sort donations, sorting and merchandising things in the store, and using her sense of style to dress mannequins.
